Topics CoveredMāori is one of the official languages of New Zealand and is an integral part of the country's culture. There are numerous reasons to learn Māori including personal enjoyment or career requirements. Whatever the reason may be, learning Māori provides great satisfaction, a greater connection with New Zealand and an enhanced understanding of our culture and society.
A range of themes and skills will be practised through listening, speaking, reading and writing in Māori. The following topics are covered:
* Toku Ao
* Te Ao Tangata
* Te Ao Whanui
* He Mahi Whakangungu
Level 2 - Te Reo Māori
The Year 12 course will involve learning Te Reo through Te Aho o te Kura Pounamu. This is an online course available through our online environment, My Te Kura. Students will be required to make and submit video recordings, so a microphone and camera or mobile device are required.
Prerequisite:
Level 1 Te Reo Māori or equivalent
