Topics CoveredStudents will have the opportunity to carry out a practical investigation involving aspects of plant life processes.
They will also get the chance to investigate the commercial side of plant management in New Zealand and how it impacts the growers as well as the consumers.
Then they look into the reproduction technology of animals and how this is managed.
The external examination will focus on a range of farmed livestock and how their growth and development is managed.
Level 2 Agriculture and Horticulture
Agriculture and Horticulture learning develops students' understanding of the interconnectedness of all aspects of the growing environment, which includes people, soils, water, climate, plants and animals. Primary production is of national significance as it provides significant export earnings, self-sufficiency, and employment opportunities harnessing a myriad of different skills. The knowledge and skills that Äkonga develop through their learning in Agricultural and Horticultural Science open pathways to a wide range of opportunities in life, further study and careers, in Aotearoa New Zealand, the Pacific, and the world.
